Disciplined Mornings

Mornings, eh? The paradox is we love them but we hate getting to them. That climb out of bed can be impossible, no? Well, you’ve got a friend in me, because I understand the struggle of mornings. I’ve gone through periods of getting up impossibly early, but it’s never been this…easy…? What? I’m not saying it’s easy, because it’s still work and intention and discipline and prayer.

Book Review: Jen Sincero’s Bestseller

Here’s the deal, I like to keep my blog PG. I’d like my grandmother, if she ever figured out the internet, to be able to read my blog without having to giggle embarrassedly into her hands. Also, Philippians 4:8.
Anyway, I did read Jen Sincero’s book, You Are A Badass.

Intro to the Capsule Wardrobe

Some people love fashion. All those magazines with the latest styles and the perfect fashion bloggers with endless creativity… But, for others, keeping up with the

It was going to be perfect: you were going to spend time in prayer, finish up a project before the kids woke up, and eat a super healthy breakfast—but then you hit the snooze button, or your alarm didn’t go off, or your kid woke up three times during the night and wrecked your sleep.

IMG_0591Nothing hampers my gumption like great but failed morning intentions. I feel like the whole day or, worse, the whole week is shot. It takes the biggest amount of will-power inertia to overcome a bad morning and a bad Monday. They seem to have an almost exponential impact.

I have found a few fool-proof ways to get around a bad start without depleting my stores of will power!

My January Reads

One of the goals from my 10×10 for 2016 was to complete 12 books this year. I knocked out three times my goal this month, largely due to a slow period of homework (and the gift of audiobooks). I read a lot of what would traditionally be called “self-help” books, but I greatly enjoyed all three books and I will definitely be re-reading the first and last.
